Alice Hausman (born July 1942) is a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives representing District 66B, which includes portions of the city of Saint Paul in Ramsey County, which is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat, she is also a retired educator.[1]
Hausman was first elected in a 1989 special election, after Rep. Ann Wynia resigned to accept an appointment by Governor Rudy Perpich as commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services. She has been re-elected every two years since then. Prior to the 1992 legislative redistricting, her district was known as 63B.[2][3]
Hausman is currently a member of the House Finance Committee, and also serves on the Finance subcommittees for the Capital Investment Finance Division, which she chairs, for the Cultural and Outdoor Resources Finance Division, for the Transportation and Transit Policy and Oversight Division, and for the Transportation Finance and Policy Division.[2] She is one of three legislators named by House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher to lead the bipartisan 36-member Minnesota House Jobs Task Force, which will put together a plan to address job growth in the state, with an emphasis on bio business, construction and green jobs.[4]
Hausman graduated from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska with a B.S. in Education, and then went on to Concordia College in River Forest, Illinois, earning her M.A. degree in Education. She moved to Saint Paul in 1977.[1]
